Analysis of the Romanian Retail Market

Abstract:

The present study makes a foray into the Romanian retail market through the analysis of the most important 3 retail players, watching the evolution of their economic and financial indicators obtained in the period 2007-2011. Thus, it is revealed the retail market trends in Romania and also the strategic movements of the biggest players in the market to counteract the decline in economic performance as a result of the situation of macroeconomic instability in the period 2009-2011. Through the analysis of the data taken from the records of the three hypermarkets analyzed (Carrefour, Kaufland and Cora) are highlighted the evolutions in total revenues, turnover, total expenditure, profit, number of employees and the rate of profit. The study ends with a number of conclusions gathered from the analysis carried out.
