Analysis on the Impact of ICTs in Sign Language Education: A Systematic Review of the Literature from 2014-2020

Abstract:

Currently information technology has evolved in the area of sign language education, if we go back a period of 6 years, we have noticed that people with hearing disabilities are discriminated against in their day-to-day activities by the environment that surrounds them [1], because the majority of sign language was not, nor is it understood by the common population [2]. However, nowadays, as this has been incorporated into different information systems such as mobile applications, web pages, online courses and the media, they have generated an interest [3] in being an interpreter of the language of signs, as well as people with hearing disabilities. Likewise, it has become a huge challenge to be part of an information society that excludes a communication society, thus making it possible for everyone to have the same opportunities [4]. That is why this research includes a study of documents published between 2014 and 2020, which were extracted from different academic sources, with a total of 103 articles, in order to show how the advancement of different technologies, such as intelligence artificial, influence the improvement and interest of sign language education
