Application of the Critical Chain Method for Planning and Controlling the Project of Technical Production Preparation

Abstract:

Technical production preparation constitutes one of the most important activities of production enterprises, and its efficiency influences the time of new production commencement. This type of activities is of a project type and should be performed in accordance with project management methods. Hence it is necessary to select a technical production preparation project management method, so as to increase its chance of timely execution, and if possible to increase its execution. One of such methods, is the method of critical chain, which will facilitate optimization of project duration times, and allows easy monitoring of its execution, due to time buffers introduced to the project programme reduction control. Critical chain method has been applied in a technical preparation project for new product preparation in one of electrical tool manufacturing enterprise. Critical chain method application in the project allowed reduction of the project execution by about 30%.
