Application of the New Scientific Field of Culinary Tourism to Increase the Performance of Tourism in the Zlín Region. The Case Study of Czech Republic

Abstract:

Culinary tourism is a new line of tourist activities and since 2001 it has been considered a scientific field. In 2003, Erik Wolf founded the International Association of Culinary Tourism. The Czech Republic is famous for its beer. Czechs hold a record of beer per person, namely 140 liters per year. Another record for the Czechs is the number of microbreweries per capita and today (June 2018) their number exceeds 450. Some mini-breweries offer only beer, others also offer culinary specialties in order to improve their services. This case study analyzes mini-breweries in the Zlín Region in the Czech Republic. Greater attention will be paid to those offering both specialty beers as well as regional culinary specialties and possibly other services.
