Approach to Optimizing the Transport System of the City (Agglomeration)

Abstract:

Currently, many cities face the problem of the exhaustion of transport networks. They do not cope with the growing traffic. Accordingly, it has become necessary to develop new strategies based on improving the efficiency of the use of available spatial resources. These strategies suggest a significant increase in the efficiency of the transport space. To substantiate the optimal strategy for the development of urban transport systems, it is necessary to identify and justify the criteria and parameters for optimizing these systems. This article is devoted to the analysis of the possibilities of developing such criteria. A feature of the proposed methodology is that it implies the possibility of implementing a strategy based on attracting private capital. It is based on the experience of transforming the transport space of cities in Japan and Brazil, where private capital has the opportunity not only to operate separate public transport routes (paid tram, paid bus routes), but also to separate sections of the urban transport system network (urban toll roads).
