Abstract:

Assuming global trends in the area of PLM in the Europe the companies are striving towards world-class level. This also puts every single phase of the products life cycle under increasing pressure to improve all of the crucial aspects of each production system. The maintenance of the production facilities is one of the areas with huge potentials to increase, availability and reliability or to reduce cost and waste. There have been developed several maintenance approaches and systems, such as reactive preventive, proactive or aggressive systems, etc. However it turns that most of these are either resource intensive or are valid for only a certain kind of equipment. Therefore it is necessary to develop a more general framework for maintenance concept. This paper deals with comparison of maintenance approaches and defines necessary aspects which general maintenance framework has to contain.
