Artificial Intelligence in Small and Medium Enterprises: Polish Perspective

Abstract:

Artificial intelligence (AI) is a pivotal trend shaping contemporary business landscapes, significantly enhancing management processes and operational efficiency. This paper investigates the perception and preparedness of Polish SMEs towards AI adoption, focusing on challenges and opportunities. Using a survey conducted in late 2023 and early 2024 with 92 entrepreneurs in Southern Poland, the study reveals that while 69% of respondents are familiar with AI, only 36% are utilizing AI technologies. Key barriers include limited financial resources, lack of expertise, and data security concerns. Despite these challenges, SMEs recognize the potential benefits of AI, particularly in marketing, customer management, and decision-making. The study underscores the necessity for practical AI training and financial support to facilitate AI integration in SMEs, highlighting a positive outlook towards AI's future impact on business efficiency and innovation.
