Abstract:
The study presents problems of crisis management. It is a significant filed of public governance which has become more important in recent years due to the risks of increasingly more frequent natural disasters resulting from the changing climate, increase in terrorist attacks, or the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak. Crisis management refers to the cooperation of state authorities at all levels with the environment, while the greatest responsibility lays with local governments. They are the bodies that make sensitive decisions which are often reflected in human health and life. These decisions are usually made based on incomplete and dynamically changing information, which hinders assessment of a situation, apart from time pressure. This is where the need arises to look for advanced IT tools that can provide effective support in the decision-making process. Artificial intelligence methods may be a solution. The study is intended to analyze the interest in artificial intelligence implementation methods in the area of crisis management. There were pilot studies carried out by adopting a survey questionnaire and a direct telephone interview in selected communes (local governments) located in Poland. The obtained results point to great interest with the proposed solution and show the respondents’ expectations towards such an undertaking.
