Aspects of Primary Maize Grain Offer in Romania (2013 – 2015)

Abstract:

This paper seeks to emphasize the way of constitution for the primary Romanian offer of maize in context of climate variability specific to the national conditions. The product is important for Romania, both due to the extension of culture at the national level (culture covers about 30% of arable land under cultivation) and the characteristics existing in the structure of "consumption" that can be achieved (versatile product can be "exploited "as food, feed, as raw material for a range of manufacturing industries, in terms of the appropriate use of labor resources, given its agro-technological importance or export).
For the period under review are worth the important levels of acreage and total production (2,545,184 ha and 10,759,463.70 t), and less convincing performance in terms of average yield (4.236 kg / ha).
Simultaneously, based on ecological plasticity of culture, taking into account the adaptation of producers to local conditions, it is worth noting that in recent times, more and more manufacturers are trying to modernize elements of fixed capital and working capital used in this field of activity (renewal the range of mechanical means using elements of working capital efficient - genetic material, fertilizer substances, substances of pest control). However, we noted that the performance relating to adequately exploiting the existing potential cannot be achieved while maintaining an atomicity offer (a very large number of manufacturers) or with exposing the pronounced their to the phenomena of risk and uncertainty (lack of opportunities completing the necessary water during dry periods - for the vast majority of producers, the lack of guaranteed minimum prices for exchange transactions etc.).
