Abstract:
This document proposes an analysis of the Romanian pork market in the context of the outbreak of the African swine fever epidemic. The data required for the research were collected from the national and European statistics. The results of the survey have highlighted the strong dependence of the national market to the imports of live meat and pigs, mostly from the European area. The lack of some effective measures to support the pig breeders at national level will increase the trade balance  deficit in the pork meat trade and the dependence of the national market to imports.
