Abstract:
This paper attempts to develop the knowledge management (KM) framework concept that can be used by property management companies in Malaysia. The KM strategies that are derived from an extensive review of literature was tested upon registered property management companies in Malaysia. Empirical validation was done to propose the KM strategies model in the context of local property management companies. The research findings suggest several magnitudes as well as an inclusive set of activities of KM strategies that can be adopted by the property management companies in Malaysia. The study however underpinned its findings based upon limited numbers of samples. Sixteen of the 25 registered property management companies participated in the research representing 64% of property management establishments that are registered under the Board of Valuers, Appraisers and Estate Agents, being the professional body that governs property management practice in Malaysia. This research proposes that the KM strategies framework be used as a guideline for property management companies to embrace the KM principles. Research in the area of property management practice is extremely rare, thus justifying the uniqueness within the existing body of knowledge.
