Abstract:

Transport plays an important role in regional development. Transport communications provide connectivity of the territory, reduce the cost of doing business, increase the comfort of living of the population, etc. Of importance is the development of transport for the Russian Federation, as a country with the maximum area in the world. Due to the poor development of transport, many of its regions have a low level of socio-economic development. Railway transport in Russia in connection with the economic and geographical features of the country is the most important factor ensuring the functioning of the economic system of the country and its regions. The article considers its influence on regional development (on the example of Russia). Of particular importance is the economic analysis of the possibility of attracting private investment in transport projects. And these projects themselves are proposed to be evaluated in the economic, social, environmental and political aspects.
