Abstract:
The transport sector must constantly cope with the dynamically changing realities of the modern world, which means that it is also exposed to global threats. An example of this was the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 , which caused widespread destabilization. This crisis also had an impact on transport activities in Poland, where disruptions occurred in land, air and sea transport. The aim of the article was to assess the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the functioning of the transport sector in Poland. First, a three-level scale was introduced to assess the level of the pandemic's impact on transport, taking into account the individual stages of the development of the occurred epidemic threat. Then, based on a review of scientific publications, as well as analyses of industry results and statistical data describing the implementation of transport processes, an assessment was made. As a result, the areas most exposed to disruptions in the event of an epidemic threat were indicated, taking into account the division into individual stages of the development of such phenomena.
