Automation Costs based on the Example of Electric Cordless Screwdriver Assembly

Abstract:

This paper presents a process for modifying the manual assembly of an electric cordless screwdriver by introducing a partially automatic assembly. As part of the research conducted, the possibilities regarding the possible degree of automation of the assembly process were analysed. Based on the analysis, the technology of automatic assembly of selected activities was developed, the selection of appropriate equipment was carried out and the need for specific employees was determined. A design for the layout of the workstations in the new assembly hall was also presented. Based on the realized technology of automatic assembly, the total cost of automation was estimated and the profitability of the changes was determined.
