Abstract:
The paper aim to analyze e-commerce barriers and to classify then regarding modified M.Porter model. Reviewing models of barriers for business development provided by various foreign authors, it can be concluded that a vast variety of barriers determining e-commerce development are dominating. Some barriers for e-commerce can be removed by enterprises, others manifest themselves in macro level. Though macroeconomics includes many forces that can influence activity of enterprises, the most significant for enterprises is the industry branch in which they operate. Strategies used by enterprises, activity results and competitiveness depends on structural attractiveness of an industry branch. For determination of competition in a branch a model of five competitive forces suggested by M.E.Porter was used. Recently M.Porter model was criticized a lot, so in current research it was modified. The empirical survey summarizes e-commerce barriers in threat of existing competitors, history and intensity of innovation introduction context of Lithuanian SMEs.
