Abstract:
The world is changing and together with it the economy is changing. The challenges of the “new economy” are more and more complex and their consequences touch every individual’s life. Nowadays we can’t speak about the stability of private life because more than ever the economic instability generates one of its worst consequences: the unemployment and often the long term unemployment. Why long term unemployment? Because the changes that affect our lives are so dynamic and complex that finding the solutions involves many years. The paper intends to propose a subject that I hope will be a central point of a future research: To survive in a dynamic economy, the traditional worker must become a Knowledge Worker? Is becoming a KW a solution, even a temporary one, to unemployment? If the answer is “yes” which is the role played by the educational system? In our approach we will stop at examples from the European countries.
