Abstract:
Corporate memory is defined as a method for acquisition, retention and accessible of knowledge for organizational purposes for knowledge repository which uses as the knowledge management tool. The impact of technology to the world of business and organization is obviously lead a way for organization to enhance and preserve their corporate memory in digital format in order to make possible of acquisition, store, retention and access of the knowledge whether tacit or explicit, disseminate and made available of this knowledge when needed by people. In the context of higher education institutions in Malaysia, universities preserve their own corporate memory in the digital repository known as Institutional Repository (IR) which act as an online locus for collecting and preserving the intellectual output of an institution in digital format. Thus, this paper will discover current practice of higher education institution in Malaysia which is Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in managing and preserving their corporate memory digitally in institutional repository to parallel with UTM’s aspiration to have lifelong learning.
