Abstract:
Organisations are required to reinvent themselves as the pace of change quickens, and competition heats up by utilising their existing strengths and capabilities while pursuing new ones. The question of how to innovate is a challenge for FinTech firms. Hence, this study examined the role of resilient leadership on organisational ambidexterity and innovation performance of selected FinTech firms in Lagos State, Nigeria. The population for this study comprises all 10 FinTech firms registered with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN); Nigerian Securities and Exchange Commission (Nigerian SEC); Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC); and FinTech Association of Nigeria (FAN). The census approach method was adopted for this study. Therefore, seven hundred and sixty (760) management staff of the selected companies were sampled. This study used a questionnaire, and the analysis was conducted using structural and measurement models. The results established that exploratory ambidexterity significantly predicts innovation performance. The study found empirical evidence showing managers and employees of the selected FinTech firms constantly searching, experimenting, and creating new knowledge to improve organisational efficiency by breaking existing norms, standards, and practices. This implies that the selected FinTech firms need to continually intensify their efforts to promote their passion for innovative ideas. The study recommended that resilient leaders and managers in the selected firms should understand the importance of creating a robust social network.
