Broadening the Scope of UX Design with Behavioural Psychology

Abstract:

Theoretical research presented in this paper attempts to analyze more thoroughly aspects that might have impact on technology mediated user experience. We believe that the outputs of this introductory literature review will help us to obtain starting points and a general framework for our future research in this area. The main objectif of the described interdisciplinary effort is to create optimized testing scenarios that would allow more personalized customization of mobile applications and possibly of other information systems and websites. In this paper, we describe a conceptual user experience paradigm including psychological aspects and possible causual relationships resulting from user contact with information and communication technologies and their characteristics. We specifically focus on three groups of factors: visual, auditive and haptical. In our literature review we summarized knowledge gained from both scientific disciplines - user experience design and behavioural psychology. As a research platform for the purposes of this paper we used the Science Direct and ProQuest databases.
