Building Life Cycle Analysis as a Tool Supporting Environmental Decision-making Processes

Abstract:

The building sector is important in global greenhouse emissions and electricity consumption. The purpose of this Master's thesis is analysis a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) for an office building, at the design stage, which can be a tool supporting comprehensive assessment and decision-making processes of the environment. The scope of work includes a literature review of assessment methods and applications of LCA in construction. The research part includes conducting the LCA analysis in the One Click LCA program for the research office building and interpretation the results obtained. The assessment of the life cycle of the analyzed object allows to develop which stages and structural elements of the office building contribute the most to the environment. The assessment covered various impact categories. The LCA analysis can be used as a tool supporting decision-making environmental processes, including by choosing more environmentally friendly materials.
