Abstract:
In spite the fact that the entrepreneurship in Slovakia is carried out mostly by men, women have also started to develop entrepreneurial activities in the market as successful entrepreneurs and managers. The entrepreneurship represents the area of the unutilised potential for career self-fulfilment and economical assurance of women. The businesswomen and female managers contribute, specifically by innovations, to business and entrepreneurship. In most cases, the women run business alone or as sole-traders and self-employed persons, mostly in branches as health, fashion, social-work, services, administration and education and training. The study analyses entrepreneurial activities of women in Slovakia and provides information on the system of support on behalf of entrepreneurial activities of women. The paper includes the results from survey on the entrepreneurial activities of women in Slovakia as well as the identification of factors contributing to disadvantaging position of female entrepreneurs and mangers in the market.
