Business Information Systems: Theory vs. Practice from the Point of View of Czech Companies

Abstract:

In this paper, the authors examine the relationship between the implementation and the actual use of information systems in confrontation with the recommendations based on the conducted literature research. The research was divided into several phases. First, it was necessary to abstract recommended practices and trends for business information systems and their implementation processes from the systematic literature search. Based on the findings, a questionnaire survey was compiled. 300 companies across various sectors and sizes were approached, and 74 answered the questionnaire. An online questionnaire via the Google Forms platform was used to obtain data on the use of information systems in Czech enterprises. The results of this questionnaire survey were used to confront theoretical knowledge with practice. At the same time, a 70% agreement limit was monitored, which, if reached, will be considered as confirmation of the fact that companies generally follow the recommendations and trends arising from the professional literature or, on the contrary, that the authors are closely linked by communication with the companies when creating their works.
