Abstract:
The aim is to research organizations that want to implement self-service business intelligence, to discuss and validate the ten predefined challenges and explain their own challenges. Three Saudi sectors with business intelligence at different maturity levels were selected for qualitative case studies to examine the challenges they faced. As a result, the researchers in this paper proved only two challenges out of ten. The major challenges are summarized by the absence of data policy, data ownership, a lack of support from information technology, the absence of data regulations in Saudi Arabia, and a lack of awareness about the value of business intelligence. Organizations should identify data governance across the entire organization and get support from top management, which would help distinguish between the roles of Information technology and business as well.
