Business Intelligence Process for Telecommunication Industry

Abstract:

Telecommunication industry is one of the fast growing and highly competitive industry. Its products and services cover wide area of technology. Moreover, the customer for telecommunication industry can easily reach millions of users across different continent. Because of the complexity of the business nature in Telecommunication Industry, there is a
need for tools to manage the huge information available in telecommunication organization and to make quick and sound decision. One of the most effective methods to achieve it is through business intelligence. However, as far as business intelligence in telecommunication
industry is concerned, where information from transactions happens in bulks for every second and ad-hoc decisions are made from these real-time information, there is an issue of how business intelligence are carried out in
the industry. This study uses the 3-phase research design. The first phase is the research initiation where initial study was conducted about the subject. Then the literature review is conducted to gain related and important information with regard to the topic of the study. Then, pilot study is used followed by empirical research by using case study where three major telecommunication organizations are investigated through interviews of its IT and Business personnel. Finally, for data analysis, qualitative method will be used to analyze and describe the findings of the study. The study is able to understand and construct a process framework on how Business Intelligence process is conducted especially in telecommunication industry as well as business and network dimension of which the Business Intelligence is processed.
