C-SGBD – A Procedure for DBMS Performance Stability Evaluation

Abstract:

This paper proposes a method of analyzing another significant aspect of a database system performance – the stability of the system performances. In this study, the proposed procedure, named C-SGBD is intended to analyze the stability of  a relational database system, during a normal runtime execution of the database server. The procedure consists in posing different workloads on the database server and analyze the execution time, in a different manner then the regular benchmarks (e.g TPC systems), comparing the responses of the same system at different workloads of a comparable level.
