Abstract:

Commercial-Off-the-Shelf (COTS) satellitecommunications equipment provides many advantages for today’s military satellitecommunication systems in terms of cost, availability, and flexibility. In Thailand, the development of the broadband satellite system will provide an opportunity to the Royal Thai Army (RTA). This paper studies the capacity of digital video transmission via satellite to support the military mission. The idea of this paper is making the most of capabilities that do exist commercially in order to improve the possibility that communication based on commercial equipment.
