Abstract:
This Paper aimed to critically examine Internet addiction, specifically analysing whether two of the primary causes of this addiction could be boredom and loneliness. As a consequence of being addicted to the Internet, the user would spend too much time online and therefore neglect work and family relationships. This would then lead to feelings of guilt. 35 respondents from different professions answered a questionnaire relating to Internet addiction. The data collected was analysed in relation to gender, age, profession, hours spent on the Internet in a day and activities undertaken while online.
