Abstract:
The regions constantly look for optimum forms of innovation development. However, current experience show the problem in the flow of knowledge. The aforementioned observations are the basis for the review of the technological observatories network partners activity within the area of materials production and processing within the Silesian Province. More and more efficient solutions are searched for thus the paper is related to the functional and attribute review of the competence centre (including living lab) in the area of materials production and processing. The objective of the paper is the analysis of the competence centre functioning as a solution supporting the technological development process within the area of materials production and processing. The developed case study confronts the actual operations of the engaged entities with these necessary for the competence centre functioning. The study analyses the offer and activity of the companies engaged in running a technological observatory according to the situation at the end of 2019. The process continuously evolves and improves the technological observatory members offer. However, the analysis of current state has disclosed some gaps representing the space to overcome along the path to full development of a competence centre. The performed analyses and studies were used to review the readiness for implementation of the innovation management model using the Competence Centre concept in the technological area of materials production and processing. It seems possible within the 2 - 3 year-long time perspective while standing up to the challenge of filling the competence gaps and assuming self-funding of own operations. The method this will be performed is the key. Cooperation competences are necessary: relation and network competences with consideration of their basic components and outlining the network approach assumptions provides the space for effective operations.
