Abstract:

The current economic environment is characterized by fierce global competition and rapid changes in the market. Innovation, environmental issues and the limitations of natural resources have become increasingly important for society, and therefore more researchers adopt the topics from a sustainable development perspective. The construction industry is one of the most important production activities through which man affects the natural environment. Most activities in this area, from the production process of building materials to the use of construction after completion, involve large amounts of energy and production of waste. All these problems put great pressure on the environment and therefore there is a need to develop solutions for environmental protection, the preservation of resources, as well as the promotion of sustainable development strategies. In this sense, this paper aims to present the concept of sustainable development, to identify the main challenges regarding sustainable development from the perspective of building materials made from wastes.
