Abstract:
Consumer prices for alcoholic products are significant from an economic and social perspective, as excise taxes add to the state budget and also affect alcohol consumption by the population. In this article, we consider the change in consumer prices for alcoholic products (vodka, wine, beer, cognac) on the Russian market from 2000 to 2018 and answer a number of related questions. How have the consumer prices for alcoholic products changed after 2014, when the domestic economy witnessed a downturn due to international sanctions? What are the long-term consumer price trends for alcoholic products? What will alcohol prices be in 2020 and 2023? How do consumer prices affect the retail sale of alcoholic products and, consequently, their consumption?
