Abstract:
The article outlines changes in the intensity and direction of international temporary labour emigration among students from the Opole academic centre between 2007 and 2016. It compares data from official statistics and the results of quantitative research carried out at the two largest Opole universities, The University of Opole and Opole University of Technology, in 2007 and 2016. The result of the presented comparison confirmed some assumption of selected migration theories that part of the stream of temporary student migration was redirected to nearby labour markets and that changes of student migration were determined by many other factors, in particular the profitability of work abroad, the situation on Polish labour market and interpersonal connections.
