China’s Objectives in the Belt and Road Initiative

Abstract:

A significant goal of “the Belt and Road Initiative” is to support the economic development of the participating countries. Although each country pursue its own interests in the initiative it is particular important to analyze the objectives of China as a country which launched the initiative. This paper demonstrates that the main goals of China to launch BRI are: to make a transformation in China’s regional disparity; to take a leading role in global affairs and increase status as a responsible global power; to ease the problem of production overcapacity and to promote Chinese culture among the BRI’s countries. In carrying out the research the author employs dialectical and systematic approaches to the study of economic and political processes.
