Cloud Optimization for Information Detection and News Veracity

Abstract:

The latest advancements in technology and science, the advantages of information spreading and audience reaching has come to a break-even point. With the outburst issue of fake news, not only have we witnessed a harmful and adverse impact on online social networks and news sites, but also a negatively affected offline community. In the recent years, research arena has been challenged with the dangerous influence of dissemination on politics, culture, lifestyle, up to latest COVID19 pandemic, exposing danger even to the health and social well-being. For this reason, dealing with fake news toic, needs immediate actions to counteract the problem. The main goal of this paper is to examine possible solutions to the aforementioned problem and attempt to come up with a suitable, effective and easy to use application that supports identification of disinformation and fake news, through optimization of cloud-based tools. With this in mind, countless papers and databases were analysed and as a result, it was concluded that cloud-hosted web application and machine learning classifier would be a considerable solution. The results of the implementation of the proposed model show that our application works with 93% of accuracy.
