Co-Creating IT Value in Multi-Organization Environments

Abstract:

The construct of value co-creation in marketing, finance, and management fields is not new at all.
However, in our information system field, research on IT value co-creation has been understudied. The emergence of e-procurement system use in the higher education environment has spark interest among IS researchers on IT value that can be co-created by its key stakeholders. This paper presents case studies conducted in Australia to identify a range of multiple organizations with different interests that are involved in the e-procurement environment –universities, suppliers and diverse users and identify key strategic and operational issues in co-creating business value from new eprocurement investments and leveraging new digital capabilities in organizations.
