Commitment and Retention of IT Employees

Abstract:

The aim of this study is to evaluate the influence of sharing values and principles, high performance, communication with peers, career opportunities, exciting atmosphere of the work place, performance reward and self development on retention and commitment levels of information technology (IT) employees. The sample consists of 119 individuals working in IT sector. The findings show that although the performance reward has no influence on commitment level, it has an effect on retention level of IT employees. Exciting atmosphere of the workplace and good communication with colleagues have no distinct effect on the commitment and retention level. The study provides evidence that task proficiency, reasons of loyalty and entrepreneurial plans of employees differ according to gender which is a side result of the study.
