Companies’ Environmental Performance and Consumer Behavior

Abstract:

The integration of two fundamental concepts, both on theoretical and practical plans: economic development and the environmental protection appeared as a matter of interest far back as the ‘80s. Both the economic development and the conservation of the environment are equally necessary for the survival of future generations – us, the current generation, being responsible for this survival. Basically, this is an idea intensely discussed in different contexts from the ‘80s until the present. The concept that joins the progressive development and the environmental protection as natural and economic resource is the one of sustainable development. How is this concept perceived in the context of a modern economy by our average consumers? This is a question this article tries partially to respond to.
