Comparative Advantage – Conductor of Competitive Advantage

Abstract:

Our study highlights the classic and modern theories of competitiveness, highlighting the main factors influencing competitiveness at the macroeconomic level. In this regard we note that in economic terms competitiveness is often associated with productivity and efficiency with which inputs are transformed into goods and services. At the same time we want to show that in the current context, implementation of prudent policies, increased investment in education and research are some of the main determinants of economic development. This prompts us to analyze and make a comparison of some important and current issues of the EU in innovation and its main competitors on the world market: USA, Japan and China. The results reflect the desire to clarify the causes of the development of innovation performances in the context of using the composite index.
