Abstract:
The paper is dedicated to studying the framework of the skills of a data analyst in Russia and making a comparative analysis of the framework of skills of this job in Russia and the USA. To look into the framework of skills of the data analyst job in Russia, the authors used the web scraping method to download data from the website HH.ru about 100 vacancies of the data analyst job in the RF. Then we used data parsing to find out about the requirements for candidates for a vacation and content analysis to classify the skills by categories presented in Verma et al. (2019). After we determined the framework of skills of the data analyst job in Russia, we compared it to the framework of skills of the job in the USA. The main conclusion is that out of 5 major skill categories only 3 coincided, namely: statistical packages, structured data management, decision making. But they were in different positions in terms of how frequently they were mentioned in vacancies. Also it should be noted that in the vacancies posted in Russia, programming skills are important, whilst in the American vacancies this category is not in the top 5 most frequent requirements for candidates. Moreover, in the American vacancies soft skills are most frequent, but in the Russian ones hard skill categories are more common.
