Comparison of the Error Rates in the Manufacturing and Non-manufacturing Processes

Abstract:

Lean management and process analysis and optimization are widely used tools among enterprises today. Therefore it is possible to assume that project optimization and management is common approach for companies nowadays. Manufacturing processes was in crosshairs in last decades and methods for optimization of manufacturing processes are richly described in literature and proven by huge number of case studies. Gap to be covered is in non-manufacturing processes. Non-manufacturing processes are coming to crosshairs in last years because there is huge potential for further cost reductions and savings. This paper deals with comparison of the error rates in the manufacturing and non-manufacturing processes. Goal of the paper is to prove that significant number of reclamations (errors with direct impact to end user) is caused by non-manufacturing processes.
