Comparison of Business Efficiency in Eastern European Countries Using DEA Models

Abstract:

Article describes results of empirical research focused on measuring efficiency of business units in different countries of Eastern Europe. Efficiency of small and medium enterprises was estimated using models of data envelopment analysis. Results were aggregated by countries in order to identify which countries are more favorable for business activity. Thus we have defined country ranking based on output of DEA analysis. Our ranking was compared with Easy of doing business ranking provided by World Bank and Corruption ranking provided by the agency Transparency International. Data used for analysis were taken from the results of annual enterprise survey conducted by World Bank.
