Competitiveness as a Basis for Tourism Development

Abstract:

The article studies the issues of managing the competitiveness of a tourist destination. It is established that today the tourism industry is organized in such a way that one of its basic elements of development is a tourist destination. It is stated that the tourist potential of Ukrainian territories is unrealized due to the low level of welfare of the population, overestimated cost and inadequate quality of regional tourism product, underdevelopment of tourism infrastructure, imperfect mechanisms of state regulation and stimulation of tourism development, lack of real coordination and interaction between these entities. Analytical, monographic, comparative, abstract and logical, system and analytical methods of research were used, particularly the use of analytical approach made it possible to build an infological model of innovative development of tourist destinations on the basis of allocation of basic factors and conditions of development of the territory. It was found out that the competitiveness of tourist product is the main condition that distinguishes between the concepts of "tourist region" and "tourist destination". Own definition of the term "tourist destination" is offered. Innovative principal provisions on increase of level of competitiveness of tourism on the territory level are offered. Components of forming management of tourist destination competitiveness are defined. The infology of tourist destination competitiveness management system is developed.
