Conditions for Enhancing the Competitiveness of the Romanian Higher Education System: Case Study

Abstract:

This paper presents an evaluation of a Romanian university. The purpose of this research is to identify opportunities and conditions for the development of a competitive higher education. The research is based on a market research through questionnaire and in-depth interviews. The target group, used in the application of the questionnaires, consists of students studying at the Faculty of Management in Production and Transportation at the Politehnica University of Timisoara, Romania. In-depth interviews were carried out with teachers from the Polytechnic University of Timisoara, Romania. Finally, the research presents a number of conditions that can be implemented to increase the attractiveness of the higher education system and implicitly the competitiveness. It is noticed that the realization of study programs in different foreign languages ​​and the use of information technology are among the opportunities that contribute to increasing the competitiveness of the Romanian higher education. At the end of the research the conclusions of the research are presented and the future research directions.
