Abstract:
Information and communication technologies play a key role in ensuring business continuity. In most cases, companies did not envisage a scenario requiring employees to stay home and work remotely. In this situation, employees were unprepared and poorly equipped not only in terms of hardware and software, but also in terms of work space. The article analyses the factors influencing the change in the characteristic of the workplace and working conditions after switching to telework. The analysis included office workers who were transferred to remote work and teachers, both at the school and higher education level, who were forced to start online classes. The aim of the study was to identify the main factors that influenced the arduousness of remote work. Listing these factors allows striving to minimize their adverse effects. The results indicate a significant negative impact of occupational isolation, increased working time and the emergence of new stressors at work. A significant additional factor is also the inadequacy of the user interface obtained on the computer equipment collected more or less randomly. By identifying these factors, practical recommendations were made to the organization.
