Abstract:

In today’s economy entrepreneurship and competitiveness have recently become buzzwords. Each national economy faces a number of challenges which can only be met when there are skilled and capable individuals who have the courage to accept such challenges. Today, a competitive economy responds to an innovative, flexible and dynamic environment which requires well-prepared and skilled entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurship education has become the focus of close observation. Entrepreneurship education is one of the key elements which plays a significant role in preparing would-be entrepreneurs for the business world. Especially for higher education institutions, this is the optimum time to respond to market demands by accepting the call for innovation in their curricula. In the new economic background, higher education institutions are now in the position of becoming one of the drivers of business competitiveness and economic growth. A network of quality research links and a supply of well-trained people must be made available, especially those that are young and enthusiastic and willing to become entrepreneurs. The relation between entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship education is obvious. Entrepreneurship education is a topic of growing awareness; the importance of this phenomenon has heightened in the last few years. In nearly every country, increasing attention is being paid to the potential of university education to facilitate the start and growth of new ventures. However, there is a significant discrepancy between the existing model and the model which is necessary for the future. This article deals with issues related to the current situation and highlights the role of entrepreneurship education for business environment and entrepreneurial activities in general. Its aim is also to discover various issues which might be taken into consideration by supporting development of such entrepreneurial culture and spirit. Particular emphasis is placed on situation in the Czech Republic.
