Abstract:

The purpose of the publication was to discuss the financial situation of wind farms in Poland in the period 2010 - 2018 when this sector was undergoing a crisis caused by the excess supply of green certificates. The publication discusses the genesis of the phenomenon, actions taken to resolve the crisis, and its impact on the wind farm sector. The paper as one of the few presents the financial aspect of this phenomenon, combining the issues of sustainable development with the economic viability of entities from the green energy sector. As it turns out, at least in Poland, these entities had severe financial problems, and many wind farms were liquidated.
