Continuous Improvement Model Based on Lean Tools to Reduce Cost Overruns in Power Transformer Assembly Projects

Abstract:

Electrical installation construction projects are among the most specialized within the electrical sector, with a very high degree of difficulty compared to other construction projects. Total costs of elements to be installed for such a project can reach US$ 7,000,000.00. Therefore, delays in this type of project result in high cost overruns. Accordingly, the present work proposes an improvement model that integrates the Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) methodology, Takt Time Planning (TTP), and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) tools to improve efficiency in the design and planning of electrical assembly projects.
