Convergence of Communication Systems as the Foundation of a Digital Information Ecosystem in the Context of Sustainable Development

Abstract:

Rapid changes of technology have forced economies and societies to shift their activity to the digital environment. The article highlights the use of new business opportunities in the context of convergent services that lead to the development of digital information ecosystems.                 Objectives of the article are as follows:

  • defining the concept of a digital information ecosystem,
  • defining the concept of convergence,
  • determining the level of convergent services in the business environment, and
  • developing a model of action for those who create the digital information ecosystem.

In order to achieve these objectives, the article refers to the essence of the ecosystem, which is a basis for the research problem. Additionally, literature analysis is presented which has enabled to develop a model action to enhance convergence in the digital information ecosystem.

The article uses research methods, such as critical analysis of scientific literature, synthesis and generalization, questionnaire survey and graphical visualization.
