Convergence of Entrepreneurship Conditions in Poland at NUTS 3 Level

Abstract:

Entrepreneurial climate and attitudes of societies make currently one of the most important determinants of  sustainable growth. From the regional policy perspective it is crucial to build conditions that support entrepreneurs not only in the centres, but which support spatially sustainable growth. The main objective of the article is to verify the presence of convergence process with respect to entrepreneurship conditions in Poland at regional level. In the research the entrepreneurship conditions were considered as a multiple-criteria phenomenon and analysed based on 5 criteria. In the first step taxonomic measure of development was assessed with application of TOPSIS method based on median vector Weber. Then, the concept of convergence within unconditional β-convergence model was applied. The research was conducted at NUTS 3 level for the years 2010-2015 based on the statistics provided by Central Statistical Office of Poland (Local Data Bank). The hypothesis of convergence of entrepreneurial conditions at NUTS 3 level was confirmed.
