Coopetition between Data Center Service Providers as an Economical Solution for Multicloud Infrastructure Deployment in Polish Public Sector

Abstract:

This paper concerns the phenomenon of business strategy of coopetition between two major cloud computing providers, Google and Microsoft, who jointly prepared an unprecedented solution of multicloud infrastructure for Polish public sector organisations. It is assumed that such project might be more effective from the perspective of cost, time management and human resources engagement than the traditional approach of building own data center or implementing other cloud models presented in the paper. During the research various aspects and approaches of the abovementioned phenomena have been considered in the context of economic analysis of specific IT infrastructure deployment models such as IaaS, SaaS or PaaS. The author also investigates the events, motives and benefits that lead companies to deploy the coopetition strategy. The study is divided into the theoretical, conceptual and empirical parts that gradually reveal the answers to the research questions made by an author. Conclusions drawn from this paper can be useful for entrepreneurs and their decision making process. Also, they may constitute a solid basis for further research in this field.
