Corporate Social Responsibility and its Influence on Human Capital in the SMEs from EU’s Emerging Economies

Abstract:

Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is a concept which appeared recently in the terminology and practice of the companies operating in emerging economies of the EU. In addition, if the multinational companies or large companies already developed their own culture of social responsibility, in the field of SMEs, the concept of CSR is less known. Public authorities in countries with emerging economy have started to develop activities to promote the concept of CSR in the last years, to the benefit of communities in which they operate. Under these conditions, the involvement of SMEs from emerging countries in social responsibility campaigns is very weak. However, it is noted that when the SMEs enter into socially responsible actions, they particularly aimed the support of the employees, as representative for the human capital. In this paper we analyze the situation of CSR in SMEs in emerging economies, on the one hand, and, on the other hand, what actions SMEs can initiate to support employees, the most important resource of any organization.
